Software maintenance is often cited to be the most costly phase in the life of a software system. While the research track focuses primarily on fundamental techniques, methodologies and studies to improve the software maintenance state-of-the-art in the near future, the demo track showcases pragmatic tools and environments to support the software maintainers in the field now. Whether the tools are early research prototypes or polished tools prepared for commercialization (but not yet commercialized), the ICSM demo track provides the perfect opportunity to reach an international audience of researchers and practitioners, and solicit critical feedback.
This year's demo track consists of:
Participation in the Tool Bazaar requires a cover letter, 5-minute screencast and a small website for the tool. Formal Demos also require the screencast and website, but need a 4-page proposal instead of the cover letter. One should only apply once, i.e., either apply for the Tool Bazaar or for a Formal Demo. Accepted Formal Demos are automatically allowed to the Tool Bazaar, while rejected Formal Demo proposals can still be allowed to the Tool Bazaar, at the reviewers' discretion. Note that only Formal Demos will be included in the tool demo proceedings, i.e., cover letters will not be published.
To add some additional incentive, all ICSM attendants will be able to vote for the ICSM 2012 BOB award ("Best Of Bazaar"). The BOB award will reward the novelty, practicality, effectiveness and professionalism of the tool demos.

The cover letter or proposal should be submitted via EasyChair http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icsmtool2012 by
June 27, 2012 July 1, 2012. The screencast and website do NOT need to be submitted via easychair, since their URL can be found via the cover letter or proposal. If the tool is not available for download, the authors should clearly explain the rationale for this in their cover letter or proposal.
Each submission will be reviewed by at least 3 members of the tool demo PC. Major reviewing criteria are:
Accepted Formal Demos will be allocated 4 pages in the conference proceedings. At least one author of each accepted Formal Demo must register and attend ICSM 2012 for the demo to be published in the proceedings. In addition, formal demonstrators will be expected to give a presentation that will be scheduled in the conference program. Furthermore, all demonstrators will be expected to take part in the Tool Bazaar, which will take place at a key moment during the conference.
Demonstrators are expected to provide their own equipment. Please mention supplemental wishes (e.g., Internet access) in the cover letter or proposal.
